How far can I tune an Aristo
V300?
- Aristo V300 can run 10.9s on 1/4 mile at 800bhp+
- Aristo V300 can handle up to 800bhp without engine re-build
- Aristo V300 is capable of race car handling with the wide variety of
coil over setups available
- Aristo V300 can be tuned to a maximum horsepower of 1400bhp with full
engine rebuild.
Examples :
510 bhp, 3.1L JUN bottom end, 198MPH top speed
1400 rwhp 2JZ-GTE engine, 1/4 mile/400M - 7.35 @ 185mph
Engine
Modifications
Boost Controller (Blitz) - increase power 40/50bhp from stock Aristo
2JZ-GTE motor. RECOMMENDED!
Iridium spark plugs - essential when increasing boost levels e.g.with
boost controller.
Dump valve - replaces re-circulation dump valve as stock on car
- keeps turbo spinning longer and pro-longs turbo life.
Induction Kit (Blitz) - increase top speed on stock motor by 3-4mph
on 1.4 mile. Makes much better engine noise.
Foglight removal (DIY) - increase airflow to intercooler, reduce
turbo lag.
Fuel controller - increase fuelling as bhp/power is increased.
As boost is increased, air-flow and fuel must be increased also.
Intercooler - uprated intercooler is ESSENTIAL when upgrading to
larger turbo. Both must be done at the same time for large (500hp+) turbo.
Otherwise the turbo will die.
Turbo Upgrade - Upgrades available in turbo kit form to 1000hp.
When upgrading the turbo, increased fuelling (fuel pump, fuel rail, injectors)
must be installed also. For very large turbo 500hp+ you will need an uprated
intercooler and new front bodykit.
Camshafts - Uprated cams are essential when tuning to 600hp+. They
give a small bhp increase on paper, but make a massive difference in the
power delivery when combined with large turbo.
Head gasket - under high boost/ high HP conditions, it may be wise
to change to an uprated head gasket. If changing cams, this would be a
definite item to change at the same time as there would be no additional
labour involved.
Forged pistons - only
required for major hp applications 800hp+. Will give greater engine tolerances
and reduces risk of blowing at high hp.
Oil cooler - for track use, an ideal item to fit to pro-long engine
life. Also, allow the car to stay out on the racing circuit longer. Can
be positioned behind headlight or in place of foglights.
Transmission cooler - for track use, an ideal item to fit to pro-long
gearbox life. Also, allow the car to stay out on the racing circuit longer.
Can be positioned behind headlight or in place of foglights.
Recommended tuning setups
for Aristo V300 2JZ-GTE engine :
350hp - MINES ecu set to 1.0bar or Blitz boost controller 50% over-boost,
1.0bar before fuel cut. Iridium spark plugs / Blitz induction kit.
400hp - HKS Turbo GT2835R, uprated injectors, uprated fuel pump. Boost
set to 1.2 bar.
550hp - HKS Turbo T04S, uprated
injectors, larger intercooler, uprated fuel pump. Boost set to
1.4 bar.
700-800hp - HKS Turbo T04Z, HKS
cams, uprated head gasket, uprated injectors,
larger intercooler, 2xuprated fuel pump. Boost
set to 1.6 bar.
1000hp -
HKS Turbo T51R, HKS
forged pistons, HKS cams,
larger intercooler, uprated head gasket,
uprated injectors, 3xuprated fuel pump. Boost set
to 2.0 bar.
Brakes
Uprated rotors/discs
- big difference in braking, recommend Black Diamond FRONT grooved or
drilled & grooved (for better cooling).
Steel braided lines - reduces 'swelling' that will occur on rubber
brake lines during track use. Increases firmness to pedal.
Uprated brake pad - recommend Black Diamond Predator for road use
or Project-mu 777/ 999 for track use.
Castrol SRF 4.1 fluid - reduces brake fade to zero. Amazing stuff!
3 litres for Aristo.
Brake kit - AP racing 4pot or 6pot. Also Supra 4-pots but when
upgrading to 4/6 pot kit, you will require new rims with Supra off-set
such as Blitz wheels. Stock Lexus wheels do not fit 4 or 6 pot calipers!
Suspension / Handling
Eibach lowering springs - increases handling without sacrificing
ride quality. Cheap option.
Strut Brace (engine/trunk) - increase stiffness and cornering ability.
TRD polyeurthane bushes - increases handling and sharpness in steering.
Recommended for vehicles 5+ years old as the bushes will need replaced
anyway.
Anti-roll bars / sway bar / stabiliser - reduces body-roll therefore
increases cornering and reduces tyre 'scrub' on edges.
Adjustable coil-overs - increases handling and stiffness. Recommended
are Tein and HKS. Ride quality reduced as the coil-over is made stiffer.
Most coil-overs have height and damping/stiffness adjustment.
LSD - Limited slip diff, will allow harder & faster acceleration
out of corners. Rather than 1 wheel spinning, the LSD channels power to
both wheels thus distributing power evenly = traction out of the corner.
This is a weak point of the Aristo which should be tuned with uprated
LSD such as Cusco.
LSD 1.0 - effects ACCELERATION only
LSD 1.5 - effects ACCELERATION and slightly on DECELERATION
LSD 2.0 - effects ACCELERATION and DECELERATION.
The LSD in 1.0/1.5 mode is quite easily driveable but the 2.0 mode requires
you brake in straight line for driveability.
Recommended for Aristo - Cusco LSD 1.0/2.0 Clutch type.
Tyres
Goodyear Eagle F1 -
ultimate tyre for the Aristo in the wet or dry. Unforunately, the tyre-wall
is weak so no use for track days.
Kumho track day tyre - 4MM of tread in medium compound, good dry
use tyre. Haven't tried these as yet but good reports on this tyre.
Michelin Slick Tyres - increase cornering in on dry track. Reduces
lap times by 4 seconds on stock Aristo V300
Dunlop Slick Tyres - not tried these yet, but they are medium compound
and I expect 4 seconds reduced lap time similar to Michelin slick tyre.
Electronics
ECU upgrade -
choose from Blitz,
TOMS Tec II, MINES ecus for Aristo. Removes boost limit (more boost, more
hp), fuel cut and speed limiter. Also allows rev range to 8000rpm. Boost
and fuel maps have to be programmed by laptop.
ECU in engine bay,
very easy install.
Boost Controller (Blitz) -
increase power 40/50bhp from stock Aristo 2JZ-GTE motor. RECOMMENDED!
Records peak boost and works as a digital boost gauge also.
Fuel controller - increase fuelling as bhp/power is increased.
As boost is increased, air-flow and fuel must be increased also.
VSC off switch - VSC can interfere during track/circuit driving
and reduce power. Turn it off with this switch, plugs into stock ECU (easy
install) + on/off button.
Turbo timer - leaves engine running for 2 minutes after you exit
vehicle to cool turbo down and pro-long turbo life.
G-Force computer upgrade - allows G-Force created thru cornering
to be read from touch screen
Air-fuel ratio meter - checks to see if you are under-fueling under full
load. Under-fueling will mean blown turbo/engine so is very important
when tuning your vehicle for higher boost.
